Submission Requirements

We welcome submissions from anyone located in Australia and New Zealand, as well as internationally. To keep our community authentic, all images must be captured by you, locally. This means you personally set up the equipment, adjust the settings, and pack down when finished. Backyard observatories are allowed as long as you are physically present and operating the equipment either manually or via a PC, tablet or smart controller which is located in the same vicinity as the observatory or your equipment.

  • Images must be captured by you (no remote telescopes).

  • AI-generated images are not accepted.

  • All skill levels are welcome, from first-timers to professionals.

  • Basic processing is fine; heavy composites or fabrications must be disclosed.

  • Minimum file size is 1080px on the longest edge.

  • Recent captures: the image must've been taken within the last 6 months.

  • Format: JPEG or PNG.

How Images Are Selected

  • We review every submission with care, looking for images that are authentic, well-composed, and showcase the beauty of the Southern night skies.

  • All skill levels are welcome, and we celebrate creativity, effort, and unique perspectives.

  • While technical quality helps, we also love images that tell a story, capture a moment, or inspire wonder.

  • Occasionally, we may feature international images tied to exciting scientific events.

  • Every selected image is credited to its photographer, and our goal is always to highlight real people capturing real skies.
